"No one can minimize the extraordinary contribution of Mary Crane, but no one has to date bred the dogs of consistent quality, genetic stability, and strength of breeding lines, that resulted in the profound effect on the breed as has Quibbletown."  -----  Joseph B. Gentzel, on Edith & Seaver Smith, and their Quibbletown kennel, written in 1995.  http://www.josephbgentzel.com/quibblet.htm

Soldier x Stormy

"Only the true breed possesses this bewitching, almost indefinable expression in the eyes, both distant and caressing, contemplative and just a little sad. As you look in these eyes, the immense moral value of the breed pierces your soul." --- Monsieur Bernard Sénac-Lagrange, a founder of The Réunion des Amateurs de Chiens Pyrénées or RACP in France, which was formed in 1923.

Soldier and Stormy

New photos coming.  In photos below, puppies were in need of a bath and just learning to "stack" but they did pretty good.  :)  Candid photos can be found down the page.

Boy 1

Boy 1 at six weeks, three days.

He is one of the smallest pups in the litter, along with Girl 2, but he's confident and doesn't let the others push him around.  Lots of spunk.  At this time we don't know if he will reach standard size.  He may mature (around 3 years) at female size or smaller, or he may surprise us all and end up big.  He will be available to an approved companion home or companion/family-livestock guardian home on limited AKC (non-breeding) for $500.  A deposit of $100 will hold.

Boy 3

"Samson" has gone to his new home.  :)

Boy 4

*****On hold.*****
Boy 4 at six weeks, three days.

It's looking like this puppy is going to be the first pick boy, waiting 'til they are eight-weeks-old to be sure.  He's one of the biggest pups in the litter, along with Boy 2, Boy 3, Girl 4 and Girl 1.  A big, outgoing, confident clown.  He is also wagging his tail in the pic.  :)He will be available to an approved family-livestock guardian/breeding home and/or show/breeding home on AKC unlimited (full) registration for $1000.  A deposit of $200 will hold.

Girl 1

Girl 1 at six weeks, three days.

It's looking like this puppy is going to be the first pick girl.  This pup is really nice.  She's very confident and outgoing, and put together very nicely.  Since I tend to prefer markings, the fact that I see her as pick girl says a lot about her.  One of the bigger pups in the litter and as you can see, wagging her tail during the pic.  :)  She will be available to an approved family-livestock guardian/breeding home and/or show/breeding home on AKC unlimited (full) registration for $1200.  A deposit of $200 will hold.

Girl 2

Girl 2 at six weeks, three days.

She is one of the smallest in the litter, along with Boy 1.  However, she's confident and sweet.  At this time we do not know if she will be standard size.  She may mature (around 3 years) quite small or she may end up very large.  She will be available to an approved companion home or companion/family-livestock guardian home on limited AKC (non-breeding) for $500.  A deposit of $100 will hold.

Girl 3

*****On hold.  Waiting on her flight.  :)  *****
Girl 3 at six weeks, three days.

Ornery little attention seeker wanting to play.  :)

Girl 4 at six weeks, three days.
Girl 4 is a classic Pyr. She's ok with attention when you give it but usually doesn't seek it out. She hides under the house when it's time to go back in the pen so she's probably going to be a pup for someone with more dog experience just because she can already think for herself so well. She is second pick girl only because she probably would not enjoy the show ring, however would be a wonderful breeding/family-livestock guardian, with the proper training, in my opinion. If you would want to show her, it could be done, just a little more work on keeping her from being board. :) Bottom photo is when she was four weeks, two days old. I left that one up because I love that pic. :) As you can see, she finally got to where she would *sort of* free stack for me but she wasn't happy about it. LOL

Video is of pups at three weeks, three days old.

(More photos below.)

The puppies were born Wednesday, November 30, 2011.

Parents are "Soldier" and "Stormy".  Soldier is bred on BIS/BISS Ch. Karolaska Bristol Bay, HOF/HOF and his son Ch. Karolaska STA Kooler Bear, HOF (photos below).  Soldier comes to us from Agape Ranch, a working sheep farm in Idaho.  Idaho has an estimated 1,000 wolves!  Soldier's parents guard the flock and family of Jim and Carol Rice.  Stormy's parents guard the family of Josh and Carrie Stewart on a large acreage in WV half the year, and the other half of the year in Alaska.

While our dogs are not currently with sheep, they have been in the past and are socialized to them.  They also come from a strong heritage of guardians.  Once our dogs are with sheep on a regular basis, we will not expose our puppies directly to sheep until pups are of proper age and size.  Momma dogs do not like being disturbed by other animals and pups could easily be trampled by lambs and sheep, or attacked by Momma sheep.  If you would like for your puppy to guard livestock, we will begin evaluating their structure and instinct at four-weeks-old.  At eight-weeks-old, they should be a mini mirror of what they will be like at maturity.

You can see more photos and pedigrees of Soldier and Stormy on their pages at:  http://www.maplewaykennel.com/Soldier.htm and http://www.maplewaykennel.com/Stormy.htm

Isaac/Kayla pups 2003

Isaac and Kayla 2003 puppies.

Twenty-seven-years loving Great Pyrenees.....
Twenty-three years owning Great Pyrenees.....
Twenty years breeding Great Pyrenees.....
Thirteen years showing Great Pyrenees.....

Now, after all these years selecting exceptional dogs, out of great bloodlines, from respected and knowledgeable breeders in the USA, Sweden and Canada, and consulting with many more knowledgeable breeders all across the world, we have been blessed with dogs we produce being consistent in type, structure, temperament and good health. Our Pyrs are well rounded family dogs who are as comfortable in the home as they are in the show ring and guarding livestock. All of our puppies are AKC registered from AKC champion bloodlines and family/livestock guardians.

Billy, now Sully

"Sully" out of Moses x Kayla 2002 litter.  Now with Frank & Christina and family.

We are committed to producing happy, healthy Pyrs through selective breeding, diet and exercise, socialization and veterinary care.  All puppies and dogs go with a detailed information packet on the individual dog, it's relatives (with photos and pedigrees) and the breed in general, as well as information on grooming, training and other points of interest.  All go up-to-date on vaccinations and wormings as well as being accustomed to grooming, bathing and adults walking on lead.  All are well socialized and love children, adults, other family pets, livestock and other non-threatening animals.

Physical structure and soundness as well as personality, intelligence and understanding are evaluated at eight-weeks-of-age before leaving for their new homes.  All are guaranteed, in writing, against physical and temperamental defects.  They also go with lifetime support from the Breeder (us) and new owners are encouraged to contact us with any questions, or to just talk dogs, throughout the life of the dog.

We breed to produce a pup to keep, love and show, ourselves, but also to provide others with a quality puppy who has had the best start in life and who possesses one of the best backgrounds.  Background is where the pedigree comes in, if you know what dogs looked and acted like, and what their accomplishments were at home, in obedience, as a family or livestock guardian, showing and breeding, and if they reproduced themselves well or even improved the quality, then you have a good idea of how the pups will turn out.  Most of the Pyrs here go back to many well known dogs, including BIS/BISS Ch. Karolaska Bristol Bay, HOF/HOF (white), BIS Ch. Sunshine Of Karolaska (white) and Ch. Quibbletown Justin Time II (white with wolfgray markings).  There are also dogs with links to Swedish, Norwgian, Finnish, Nordic, Danish and International Champion Fagayas Camelot Of Elliot (white with badger markings), Can. Ch. Elysee Wufgard Of Huny Mtn (white) and BIS/BISS Ch. Rivergroves Run For The Roses (white).  Top winning Great Pyrenees of all time.  {Key to abbreviations:  AKC (American Kennel Club), Ch. (Champion), BIS (Best In Show), BISS (Best In Specialty Show), Am. (American), Can. (Canadian).}

Although color is not the main goal in our breeding program, if you are looking for a specific color, the choices we normally have are white or white with wolfgray (gray) markings.  We also have the potential for white with badger markings, white with tan markings and white with reddish brown (red) markings.  We do not charge according to color, markings or gender.  If a certain pup costs more than another, it's because of that pup's own personal structure, quality and bloodlines.

Companion/Family-Livestock Guardians are placed on limited AKC, with full ownership to the new owner.  Companion/Show/Family-Livestock Guardian/Breeding are placed on Full AKC, some on Co-ownership with us until achieving their Championship at which time full ownership is transferred to the new owner and some can go with full ownership to the new owner from the beginning,  Puppies and young adults are available to loving, forever homes.  Puppies are ready to leave for their new homes at 8 - 10 weeks of age.

Shipping by plane is available worldwide depending on the weather.  Shipping fee depends on the airline and normally runs around $300.00, within the continental United States, for an eight to ten-week-old puppy.
